The VLOOKUP function in Microsoft excel is an advanced version of IF function.
Using the VLOOKUP function you can apply multiple conditions to your list of data and get respective results.
The primary difference between IF function and VLOOKUP function is the number of conditions you can apply.
IF function allows you to apply only one condition where as VLOOKUP function allows you to apply multiple conditions.
In the word VLOOKUP , the letter "V" stands for vertical. It means that you store the conditions in a vertical list. There is a companion function called as HLOOKUP which is same as VLOOKUP but you store the conditions in a Horizontal list.
